Balls

People often refer to balls as "ball bearings". This is incorrect. A ball is just a ball. Ball bearings contain balls just as roller bearings contain rollers. Balls and rollers are known as the "rolling elements" of a bearing.

Balls are used in many applications other than bearings. Some examples include valves, floating covers, decoration, ball transfers and the retractable ends in ball plungers.
